Username Policy

This Username Policy is part of the Muze Terms of Service and applies to all usernames (also called “handles”) on Muze.

1. General Rules for All Usernames

a. Usernames must be 1–15 characters long.

b. Allowed characters: letters (a–z) and numbers (0–9) only. No spaces, symbols, or special characters.

c. Usernames must follow our Community Rules (for example, no hate speech, threats, harassment, or illegal content).

d. All usernames are the property of Muze. You do not own a username; you only have a revocable, non-transferable right to use it under this Policy and our Terms.

e. Muze may reclaim, suspend, rename, or remove any username at any time, with or without notice, for any reason (including the reasons listed below).

2. Default Username Assignment

When you create a Muze account:

a. You will automatically receive a unique 10-character username (for example, @MuzeUser1234).

b. You cannot change this default username unless you purchase Handle Customization (see Section 3).

c. You may set a separate display name (the bold name shown next to your posts) for free at any time.

3. Prohibited Use & Impersonation

You must not use a username to impersonate any person, brand, organization, or entity in a deceptive or confusing way.

a. Using the name of a public figure, celebrity, politician, government official, major brand, or well-known entity (for example, @barackobama, @taylorswift, @nike) is considered impersonation unless you are officially authorized to represent them.

b. Parody, fan, commentary, or protest accounts are allowed only if they are clearly marked as unofficial (for example, your display name and bio must clearly say “parody,” “fan,” “not affiliated,” etc.) and do not cause confusion.

4. Verification & Removal Process

If we believe a username is being used for impersonation:

a. We may require the account holder to verify their identity with government-issued ID or other proof that they are the real person or an authorized representative.

If you do not provide satisfactory proof within the requested time (typically 7 days), or if we decide the use is deceptive:

• The username will be removed and returned to the available pool.

• Your account may be renamed to a generic handle or suspended.

• Any Handle Customization fees paid for that username length tier will not be refunded.

All decisions are final and at Muze’s sole discretion. This process also applies to trademark complaints, legal demands, or reports from verified rights holders.

5. Handle Customization – Paid Right to Change Your Username

Changing your username from the default 10-character handle is a paid feature.

By purchasing Handle Customization, you get a revocable license to change your username to any available handle of the purchased length (or longer) while your account is in good standing.

You are not buying ownership of a username — only the ability to choose and switch between usernames of the allowed length.

6. One-Time Fee (Based on Shortest Length You Want)

I. 9+ characters – €5
II. 8+ characters – €10
III. 7+ characters – €50
IV. 6+ characters – €100
V. 5+ characters – €500
VI. 4+ characters – €1,000
VII. 3+ characters – €10,000
VIII. 2+ characters – €100,000
IX. 1+ characters – €1,000,000

Fees are final and non-refundable (except where required by law). Prices are in Euros (€) and include applicable VAT.

7. Rights Granted & Limitations

After payment:

a. You may change to any available username of the purchased length or longer, as many times as you like, for free.

b. This right is tied to your account and remains even after deactivation/reactivation, unless revoked for policy violations (including impersonation).

8. Upgrading to Shorter Lengths (Pay Only the Difference)

If you upgrade to a shorter username tier on the same account, you only pay the price difference between tiers.

9. Availability & Reclaim

Buying a tier does not guarantee that any specific username will be available.

Muze may reclaim any username at any time (for example, for impersonation, trademark issues, inactivity, or platform needs) without refund or compensation.

10. Refunds & Consumer Rights

Handle Customization fees are non-refundable except:

a. Within 14 days of purchase for EU/EEA consumers who have not yet changed their username (statutory right of withdrawal).

b. In case of a proven technical error on our side.

c. No refunds are given if a username is reclaimed due to impersonation, trademark issues, or any policy violation.
